OUR DJS

Rudeboy Morris

I am a true jungle veteran having been a mainstay of the Dutch and Northern free party scene since ‘95.

Inspired by The Prodigy, my sisters Dream FM ‘92 hardcore tape and my frenetic techno DJ housemate Mr Happy, I started my career in Hull playing darkside jungle at the locally renowned Hutt Street parties and The Welly Club.

In 1998 I set off to Amsterdam with a crew of talented up and coming DJs and producers to form the JungleTerra Kru, a free party sound system breaking and squatting warehouses to create illegal jungle raves on a scale previously unrivalled in this famous party town.

Following a ground breaking live electro jungle performance alongside Aphex Twin at Lowlands (NL), the JungleTerra Kru were given a sub label to Reflex, touring Europe with Aphex Twins “Reflex Disco Assault”.

Under the threat of deportation by the Dutch government, the Yorkshire contingent of the crew returned to the UK leading to an era of raves in West Yorkshire which tapped into and further inspired the sound system culture which thrives in Leeds today.

The JungleTerra project has always had the free party scene at its core but over the years I’ve also held down residencies at The Arches (Sheffield), the West Indian Centre (Leeds), Beaverworks (Leeds), The Basement (Leeds) and The Welly (Hull), as well as maintaining a strong connection with the Amsterdam drum ‘n’ bass scene at the cult weekly night Cheeky Monday.

You can now find me spinning on Cutters Choice Radio on the first Thursday of each month. Kicking off at 8pm. You can expect a ragga-fuelled rinseout filled with wobbling bass, rollers and amen breaks presented in a chopped up Rudeboy party-smashing style.
