December Highlights

Xmas Benny

‘Tis the month of December and we can all finally look forward to saying goodbye and feck orf to the annus horribilis that has been 2020! We’ve had the pandemic, even more Brexit, redundancies, companies big and small sadly shutting their doors, the loss of loved ones (friends, family and those more publicly well-known) that will all be sorely missed and various other negative aspects that we all just want to put behind us.

Despite all that though there have been some positives to come out of this year. Not many we admit, but some. The main one for a lot of us, and yes we are biased, is the rise and rise of Cutters Choice Radio. You can read elsewhere on this site the story, how we’ve grown, the incredible DJs that have joined the family and all the other good stuff (there’s also a mini documentary on the way) and we’ve got loads more incredible content lined up to make next year even better!!

We’re not there just yet though and we’ve still gotta get through this month. Fear not fellow ravers because, as usual, we’ve got you covered with a whole month of #significantbangers and #relentlessflavas.

As well as the daily schedules full of quality music that you’ve come to expect, we’ve also got some incredible shows lined up to keep you feeling warm, fuzzy and buzzy throughout the festive season. So, grab your white gloves, stick on your dancing shoes, select your rave weapon of choice, top up your drinks cupboard and raid your stash as we bring you some of the CCR December highlights….

We’re actually gonna cheat a little and start with a few shows that have actually already happened but still need to be highlighted…

On the 10th December High Eight dropped a special ‘Daft Punk & Friends’ extended show, which focused on that incredible French house sound that we all love and associate with the masked legends. On Friday 11th December at 7pm we had a double treat for you. First up, Country Cockney brought you his Friday Throwdown with an EXCLUSIVE guest mix from Hopper. This DJ is a big friend of CCR and his mix was an awesome selection of dark, broody breakbeat befitting of the time of year. This was very special indeed.

Up straight after that at 9pm we had the second instalment of the Moving Shadow label special. A perfect trip down the drum & bass memory lane brought to you by The Mo Beats Experience. Part one was the week before and was very well received and this was no different. Keep an eye out for these because they are essential listening for any fan of old skool and dnb.

Now, onto the upcoming goodies and, something a little bit different, but no less special..

On the 16th at 8pm on the Mad Womans Shit Sessions, Benny Fonzarelli has none other than Primitive Ignorant joining him in the studio for a LIVE TAKEOVER!!! If you know this act then you will know that this is BIG so set your reminders now and make sure you’re locked in for that one.

The 18th December is another special day as we have not one, but two mega-shows in store for ya.

Up first at 5pm, New Zealand’s finest selekta Hubie Sounds will be bringing you a Christmas special packed full of festive cheer in the way that only he knows how. We’ve been told that it’s going to be a strictly Slade-free zone so worry not, it won’t be a repeat of the non-stop Chrimbo cheese you’ve been forced to listen to over and over and over again in the office!

If that all leaves you panting for more then it’s a good job we’ll Country Cockneys Friday Throwdown to follow then another special from the The Mo Beats Experience at 9pm with, what he describes in his own words, as an ‘80’s Rave Electronic Rave Disco Rave Party, Rave. Confused? Yep, so are we! Excited? Not arf’!!

Now, some stations might consider that to be more than enough. Not us.

The very next day we bring you part two of Lo Definition’s ‘Best of 2020 DnB’ selection. At 6pm on the 19th. Part one of this show really was incredible and we have no doubt whatsoever that Lo Def is gonna bring da fyah once again! If you missed the first one, click the link below, enjoy, and then make sure you don’t miss the follow up!!

Now of course, it goes without saying that there will be a full schedule to get you through the Christmas period including live DJs all the way through Christmas Day…including…

Fleabag’s Christmas Day Warehouse Special (2 Hours of 88-91). He’ll be kicking off at 7pm and capturing the sounds of that era for your listening pleasure. Here’s a little spiel to get your mouths watering…

“Whether you were there or not, for approximately 2 years between 88-91 there was hope, togetherness and love. All we wanted to do was dance. This scene played out in the run-down industrial spaces across the U.K. London, Leeds, Manchester, Blackburn and more. It was so powerful it scared the authorities to the point that they had to go to Parliament to put an act in place to stop it – The Criminal Justice Bill. On Christmas Day, from the comfort of your living room we return to the warehouse once again”

WE’RE GONNA PUT THIS ONE IN BOLD BECAUSE THIS ONE WINS THE SHOW OF THE MONTH AND WE HAVE NO DOUBT THAT ANY OF YOU WILL ARGUE BECAUSE…

ON WEDNESDAY 30TH OF DECEMBER WE CELEBRATE THE CUTTERS CHOICE RADIO HEAD HONCHO AND ALL-ROUND LEGEND BENNY FONZARELLI REACHING HIS MILESTONE 50TH BIRTHDAY!!!!

WE DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT HE’S GOT IN STORE YET. WHAT WE DO KNOW THOUGH, IS THAT IT’S GONNA BE SOMETHING EXTRA LARGE AND SPONSORED BY HOLSTEN PILS.

IF YOU LOVE BENNY, CUTTERS CHOICE RADIO OR JUST JUST LOVE HAVING FUN AND LISTENING TO GREAT MUSIC THEN YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MORE INFO AND GET YOURSELVES LOCKED IN. NOT ONLY TO THE RADIO, BUT ALSO THE CHATROOM SO WE CAN GIVE HIM THE BEST ONLINE BIRTHDAY ANY DJ CALLED BENNY HAS EVER HAD!!

Ok, time to stop shouting and move on to New Years Eve where we have Tanookify, DJ OJ follows then Papa Max before DJ Hazmatt drags you kicking, screaming, raving and misbehaving into 2021!!! More to be added too. Plans for these shows are currently being formulated in secret underground lairs but if you know these guys and their abilities, and their awesome selections then you’ll know you’re in for one of the best NYE musical line-ups to be found and a guaranteed party! Keep your eyes on the website for updates leading up to the day.

On New Years Day we’ve got Dave Vice then Funkbudha to keep the party going then Country Cockney will be bringing you another one of his extended shows. Following on from the previous specials featuring The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim, this one will be focusing on what he considers to be the third in the trilogy of his all-time ‘Big 3’ acts. Country Cockneys Friday Throwdown Chemical Brothers Special will be kicking off at 5pm sharp.

So, how’d ya like them apples eh?! Told you we don’t mess about!!

We hope you’ll be around to join in the fun and japes and look forward to spending the month of December blessed with your ears and your exceptional company. :o)

Big love from all at CCR Towers X
